Most people don’t really think about how important stretching is before they start their day.
However, even if you aren’t planning on doing the same activities as our boys to the left, you will undoubtedly do some type of exercise during the day. There are some simple stretching exercises that you can do when you get up that will help you to function more effectively during the day and help you to avoid being injured because of a strain or sprain.
Think about how a cat wakes up. Before they even get out of their bed, they stretch their whole body, even their toes. Take a moment to do a long, slow stretch.
Gently tilt your shoulders from left to right, moving from the waist a few times
Point your toes toward the end of the bed, then toward your head a few times.
Stretch your arms out towards the sides of your bed and stretch.
Now, when you sit on the edge of the bed to get up, just follow the nursery rhyme song.
Put your left foot in, put your left foot out, put your left foot in, and shake it all about;
Then, do the same with your right foot,
Same thing with your arms
Roll your shoulders a few times and,
You will find that you are more limber and ready for your morning routine! One of the things that I do when I work with my patients, is to teach them the easy ways to enjoy exercise and a healthy diet. These are two of the key factors in keeping your body healthy and well.
We have some very exciting events coming up, and in the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing information about how you can take advantage of some of our new programs!
In the meantime, remember that stretching is a great way to get ready for your day and get your blood circulating so that you can be the best you can be throughout the day!
